Do I need a height safety system for my building?
If workers access your roof for any reason — HVAC servicing, gutter cleaning, solar panel maintenance, or inspections, then yes, you most likely need a compliant height safety system. Under NSW Work Health & Safety legislation, anyone who controls a workplace has a duty to eliminate or minimise the risk of falls from height. This applies to building owners, strata managers, and facility managers alike. The threshold is 2 metres or more. If you're unsure whether your building is compliant, the safest step is to get it assessed before a worker is put at risk.
What is anchor point recertification?
Anchor point recertification is a formal inspection carried out by a qualified height safety professional to confirm that your anchor points and fall protection systems are still structurally sound, correctly installed, and compliant with the current Australian Standard (AS/NZS 1891.4). Over time, anchor points can be affected by weathering, building movement, corrosion, or improper use. Recertification gives you documented proof that your system is safe and legally compliant — which matters for your insurance, your WorkSafe obligations, and most importantly, the safety of anyone using the system.
